Showing Plate and Beam Stress Results Simultaneously

Is there a way to display the contoured stress results of both plate and beam elements, simultaneously. My first assumption is no, given that the two results are categorized by two completely different Contour Styles. Thanks in advance, Cheyne www.martinezandturek.com

Switching the Dependent and Independent Nodes for Rigid Constraints

HA! To be honest, I was trying to star it from the forum's front page yesterday, but couldn't find the option. I didn't realize it was within the thread. Done! Absolutely LPS worthy, compositecurves:) I had no idea what LPS was either. I was asking everyone around me, and we're joking...

Switching the Dependent and Independent Nodes for Rigid Constraints

compositecurves, You're the man! Whether you created it, or found it, I appreciate you taking the time to post it. Who doesn't love gifts in the form of a FEMAP API? :) -Cheyne www.martinezandturek.com

Switching the Dependent and Independent Nodes for Rigid Constraints

Yes Blas, That is the approach I was going to take if all else fails. Using "MESH > CONNECT > CLOSEST LINK," you choose the independent nodes in your first node selection array, then the second array is the dependents. Which is great, because you have that control and assurance of...

Switching the Dependent and Independent Nodes for Rigid Constraints

Got it! Thanks Is this where the .bdf files are generated as well? www.martinezandturek.com

Switching the Dependent and Independent Nodes for Rigid Constraints

Actually, I realized my preferences were set to save these files in another location. But, if you can guide me in exporting the bdf files, that would be great and much appreciated. www.martinezandturek.com

Switching the Dependent and Independent Nodes for Rigid Constraints

You are correct. The rigids are 1 to 1. Yes, I was aware that you can connect an independent node to multiple dependents, as with RBE2 and spider elements. Unfortunately, in this case, my 1 to 1 connection (using "unzip") is automatically generated such that many dependent nodes are connecting...

Switching the Dependent and Independent Nodes for Rigid Constraints

Is there a way to select a group of rigid elements and reverse the nodal dependencies from dependent to independent, or vice versa? I have a situation where a unzipped a plate mesh from beam elements and attached using rigid elements, but I need to reverse the dependencies to avoid fatal errors...

How to find what associations nodes/curves/etc are referencing, for future deletion from the model.

Blas and rb, The rebuild did the trick! Should I always use this tool after any model editing, preceding an analyses run? Before posting this thread, I tried deleting the mesh, geometry, loads, constraints, etc. belonging to the troublesome nodes, and the nodes still would not delete. A step...

How to find what associations nodes/curves/etc are referencing, for future deletion from the model.

How can you easily see what associations my nodes (or any geometry/mesh features) are using? I have a set of nodes that I want to delete, but cannot. I assume they are still using an active association of some sort. Yet, when I delete just about everything from my model tree, I still can't...

Attaching Plate Elements to Beam Elements

rb1957, It works! You nailed it when you said to check my independent and dependent nodes... I originally thought that, because my load path went through my plate and to the beams, that the beams were DEPENDENT on the plate. I switched my DEPENDENT nodes to the ones belonging to the plate, and...
