VRU absorber vapor outlet line tracing

The existing VRU in a petroleum loading terminal has its absorber vapor outlet line traced. I was not sure of its requirement ( the unit is in Canada, maybe for winterization). the line currently has a steam tracing (1/2" copper tubinh using 150 psig steam) which I have to replace by Electric...

    PV Vent for Floating Roof

sshep , Thanx for your input. The floating roof has 2 venting devices. The one that you mention is generally referred as Vacuum breaker and which is helpful while filling ( when the roof is still on its leg). There is this PV vent as well. I am not very confident if it is the RIM vent or a...

Hydrotreating Kerosene for S and N removal

Improving Catalyst is an option. You might also have 2 more points : Since it is a exothermic reaction : A cooler hydrogen stream can be added between the Two beds . This compensated for lost h2 / increase H2 partial press. and removes some heat. The liquid hourly Space velocity can be changed...

    PV Vent for Floating Roof

Does Pressure-Vacuum vent sizing depend on the inbreathing / Outbreathing sizing or evaporative losses. Since the roof floats on the liquid under normal circumstances, how do we size for initial filling and emptying operations. Thx. in advance

Back Pressure valve on Condensate line

25362 , A pretty good calculation on your part......I did the calculation today. The final size I got was for 4" for a 16000 lb/hr flow.Following things were considered. 1)The point between downstream on Steam trap and before the PCV is like a Horizontal Flash Drum 2)5 cases e.g set points...

Back Pressure valve on Condensate line

TBP/Art, Thx for your replies. I also think on the same lines and was having a great difficulty proving things on paper. My discussion with a Sr.Process Engineer gave the following scheme which I will design tomm. and check if there is a possibility : The condensate downstream of the steam trap...

Back Pressure valve on Condensate line

Can a Back Pressure valve be designed on a condensate return line to prevent flashing in the line. There is a hotwell downstream on the valve at 0 psig. The condensate is generated by 150# steam @ 360 deg.F .
