Cheers for that. What I know about casting you could scrawl on a bumble bees ass with a thick black pen! I don't know if I can use castings to be honest, you know - if there is an equivalent to the ASTM spec I need it to etc?!

Thank you dbuzz. I have done a little bit of research on this prior to the post, and 'major fabrication shops in my area' are now only limited to 'this side of the dark bit of planet pluto'. I am starting to lose the will to live with it! I am looking at all avenues - even (perhaps stupidly)...
Can someone tell me if it is possible to roll and weld a 24" OD tube with a 64mm wall thickness?
I need to supply/make a tube with these dimensions. I know that there may be circ welds as there are 24 metres of it, but I don't necessarily have to supply the tube in one length.

Was just trying to say this should be a diddly job to get hold of - look at the more common names for a material. Matweb is good - go on there and do a sequential search and it will give you a whole ruck of tradenames specs, grades etc...
