It's for a home made robot.
For now I will assemble the sensor on top of a stepper motor in order to get readings with a well know angle. Later on, i might try putting the robot "spinning" to make the readings.
About resolution, within centimeters would be nice. and the range itself from what...
Ok, you guys... I'm sorry about my vagueness!
Maybe using something like these:

I'm trying this now with a room sweep to try, so later on incorporate this in some sort of robot to get a bigger...
Hi all,
I'm planning on using an ultrasonic sensor to do a 3D sweeping of a room, but I can't seem to find any good ans useful info on the net, can anyone give me some pointers?
Thanx in advance! ;)
What you could do is to put a button commuting between two resistors in the RC network of the 555. One resistor would time 1 second or the interval you use as a base, and the other would time a shorter time in order for the clock to go forward faster.
Hello,
I have new hobbyist project in hands that is to connect a Siemens S5-95U PLC via its serial interface to a microcontroller in order to build a message display for it. However, I don't have any relevant information about the functioning of its interface. :\
Can someone give me some...
My first thought was the float, with the drum, potentiometer and string as well...
is it possible to weigh the container? Don't laugh, I've seen it in 30 tonne tanks so it would be an option here!
Why not try to wires along the side of the tankwithout touching each other and the tank, but...
From my personal experience, I'd go for one of these...
So far they are working fine but on shorter distances. However with longer distances you might wanna have a look at the power losses and increase the cross section of the cable.
And connect the shielding to the ground. That will do the...
From the top of my head, I would say for you to try www.lumberg.com
The easy2connect modules are quite simple to work with and they have a IP67 protection. Not sure on temperatures, but I guarantee you by experience that it is quite a reliable equipment concerning liquids. And by liquids I...
I had some problems when developing a microcontroller based measuring systems. Whenever I connected one of these in the serial port of the device, the readings went crazy. However, the grounding and shielding weren't very good... which might have something to do with it. :\
First of all, do you want your MBA because it would be a valuable tool in your actual (or future if you can see that far) job, or is it for your personal gratification?
I'm telling you this because I'm currently on a similar situation, I'm thinking about a master degree but the area I like the...
Hello,
I'm currently working as a maintenance supervisor and manager. I have a MD in Electrotechnical Engineering and because of this there are things such as oils and so on that I am not familiar with.
The company isn't very big, but there are some equipments where we change the oils yearly...
I guess this problem can be seen in several ways.
First of all, automating processes won't save jobs, people will still get fired and new people with better skills or experienced in that type of equipment will have to be hired. Maintenance staff, might have to be changed as well.
Then as...
