Using reference sketch curves to extrude

Hi Tomas, Thanks for the relpy. I'm seeing the same thing. I was hoping that there was another way that I did not know about. For the most part, I do not use reference curves in my sketch because of this issue. I stick with keeping all the curves non-ref. and use method 1. When I do an...

Using reference sketch curves to extrude

Hi, Sometimes I have an issue with a reference curve in a sketch. For example: I have part someone else designed. There is a sketch used for extrude 1. For extruded one, I do not want to select the reference curve. Great everything works fine. At a later time, I need to modify this...

Removing the parent part reference for a broken link

Hi Reconbomber, That is it!! Yes if I Remove parameters on the Link and then I "convert to linked body" it does exactly what I was asking for. NX now loses the reference to the parent part. 23 years of working with NX/UG at ver. 8 and I'm still learning. Thanks! I like this "convert to...

Removing the parent part reference for a broken link

Regarding unchecking the associative button. The issue I'm having is: I need to import files into SAP's ECRT (Engineering Control Center) This is SAP's Teamcenter like a product. If you have an assembly file and go Information > Part > Loaded Parts At the bottom there maybe a list of parts...

Removing the parent part reference for a broken link

Thanks, cowski! As so often you are a great help. I can verify that edit -> feature -> remove parameters will work. But I am hoping for another solution. I hate to use "remove parameters". It is a last resort. I never know when I will need to rebuild something. Maybe someone else has...

Removing the parent part reference for a broken link

When I delete a component in an assembly it breaks the link. But there is still a reference to the parent part. How to I remove the reference to the parent part? I am using NX 8.5 :-(

Removing the last 2 charters of a part attribute

Thanks, cowski! I think this is just what I needed. I went Expressions is set the TYPE = STRING Then tried this: charReplace("YYYnXX" , "n", "-") The expression now = YYY-XX I have to play with it some more, but this was just what I was looking for. Thanks, cowski!

Removing the last 2 charters of a part attribute

Is the are was to remove or replace the last 2 charters of a part attribute. For example in Excel I can use the SUBSTITUTE command like this: =SUBSTITUTE("DRAWING_D10",10,20) and the value in the cell would be DRAWING_D10 I am using NX8.5 :-(

Deleting A Current Feature Causes Everything Above To Fail

You can try running part clean up. I'm not at my desk right now, but use the command finder and type part clean up. Part clean up will sometimes fix things. There are some warnings if you turn on all the options. To be safe you can make a copy of the file and turn all the options on. If...

    NX VS DATABASE

I agree .prt files are not a database. I would say that Teamcenter is a database and .prt files can be in the database. I would also say that Part Families can be made in a way that is similar to a database.

Sketch Fillet Method Untrim - constraint point on curve is missing

Hi John, That was it. I had "Inferred Constraints and Dimensions' option 'Point on Curve' turned off. I turned it on and it works like I want. Thanks!

Sketch Fillet Method Untrim - constraint point on curve is missing

Hi, In Sketch When I use the Fillet Method Untrim. The constraint point on curve is missing. In NX6 I would get tangent constraints and point on curve. Now in NX85 I just get the tangent constraints. Is there some fix for this? I am using NX 8.5.3.3 MP10

    Features you wish NX had?

Hi 6) The quick view orientation keyboard controls of Solid Edge Not an expert in SE, but in NX the F8 button does the marvellous job of orienting the view. You can also set up your own custom keyboard shortcuts. The default for Orient to the TOP is Crtl+Alt+T you can change it by: F4...
