Absolutely. The modulated carrier is passed through a bandpass filter first in the receiver front end or an earlier IF stage. Its just cool to see the signal drop right into an A/D where the carrier frequency and sampling frequency are specifically related like an IF freq into a mixer. But like...
The only time I've seen an anit-aliasing filter intentionally left out is in some DSP demodulator designs. The reflection is taken advantage of to downconvert a modulated waveform at a known carrier frequency.

Do I understand you correctly that you are sampling a periodic waveform with a 840Hz fundamental using a sampling rate of 1000Hz? If so then you are sampling at less than the Nyquist rate and that can cause aliasing problems that can result in undesired frequency artifacts like what you're...
I checked the specs for the ALTOS low temp cable at the Corning site and there is no mention of a separate installation temperature spec for THAT cable type so you are probably okay. Even so the warning to the client is probably still prudent..... Good luck KLG.
Corning has a great application engineering group. You can call them at 800-743-2671. Be careful with the temperature specs. There is sometimes a different, higher, temperature spec for installation than for long term operation. For instance Corning ALTOS lite has a -30C installation spec and a...
