Large Screw or use a washer

so it seems like I was not thinking crazy. I will stick to the washer since it sees little to no force, and we already use that screw and washer in other parts of the build, so adding another type of screw will just increase the size of the BOM and not really give any benefit. Thank you for...

Large Screw or use a washer

so in terms of functionality, there is no difference from what you linked.

Large Screw or use a washer

Hello great knowledge of this forum. I have a simple question, where I work, we assemble stuff. We have 2 options with out product one with a 6-32 thru hole and one with a 10-32 thru hole. We use the same bracket for both parts that has a 6-32 threaded hole. Now the issue that has come up...

    18-8ss screw binding

yup. that is what I was talking about. my thought is that the oxide coating will act as a protective layer/ lubricant for the threads. That is just my thought.

    18-8ss screw binding

ok. now I have a question, if I used 18-8 black oxide screws, with 18-8 black oxide nuts, would that help reduce the problem? before they where uncoated screws.

    18-8ss screw binding

They were attached with a allen key on one side and a socket on the other. thank you Dgallup for the link. that is very interesting.

    18-8ss screw binding

thank you, 1) I did not know the term 2) I knew there was a great knowledge on this form =)

    18-8ss screw binding

Hello great knowledge of this form, I have run into a interesting problem, and would like your input. For a project I am using 1/4"-20 18-8ss bolts that are connected to 18-8ss nylon insert lock nuts. The issue that has be seen is that sporadically the nut will lock up while I am trying to...

    How to interpret this drawing.

My guess would be condition A. If I was looking at the part, I would say that you would need a physical largest circle to make a fillet between the 3 circles. While with Condition A you have 2 arc that would have a radius between 2.54 and 3.55. That is just my thoughts. feel free to just...

Straightness tolerance on a piece of sheetmetal

The entire part needs to be flat. not just on a particular area. Its in one area (where the hole is) that you can see the bend.

    orthogonal"twist" in a screw

Tmoose: That is extremely useful THANK YOU =)

    orthogonal"twist" in a screw

Ok, thanks for all the information. It would be nice to be able to predict the angle that will happen. What can I say, collage has taught me to love equations. =). and charts, we like the charts

    orthogonal"twist" in a screw

The application is the screw moves the plate for adjustment, I will have to look into acme threads or more higher-precision. I am trying to keep the cost down on the part. I also take it, there really is not a equation or a chart I can referance to tell me the angle the metal will pivot to...

    orthogonal"twist" in a screw

Hello all, Is there a equation or reference that can state the orthogonal "twist" allowance of a screw through a hole depending on the material thickness? The picture hopfully helps. The material is .5" thick, and that is a m6 threaded rod with a m6x1.0-6h threaded hole. Is there a chart or...

Straightness tolerance on a piece of sheetmetal

I am going to have to read up on a lot of this stuff. And yes KENAT I am US. ok, just thinking, if I just specify a parallel on one side and nothing on the datum side. theoretically the part can have a .5" bend, and if it is parallel with the datum within the tolerance, it is acceptable. so...
