Can A333 always be used to replace A106?

Only real difference that matters is A333/LF2 is impact test to a lower temperature. In reality its the same material. Never substitute without owners approval though... always saves a NCR.

    Seamless pipe ripples.

Yes Ive seen a lot of pipe to but never with ripples of this magnitude. You can claim the picture exaggerates it all you want I've seen and felt this pipe in person (6" STD BTW). Concern for corrosion? What happens when you run a fluid down a straight run a pipe with no imperfections,excess...

    Seamless pipe ripples.

This is STD wall pipe ... by no means heavy wall. And as for the photo is exaggerating the appearance it actually is worse then the photo shows. Client accepted the material for the record.

Min number of thermocouples for PWHT

Is there anywhere in any code that actually states the number of thermocouples for PWHT. I know AWS has a "recommended" number but I cant seem to find anywhere that states required. Pipe is built to B31.3.

please note that the first hump is a weld root. And its actually worse then the picutre shows

    Seamless pipe ripples.

Curious if anyone has ever encountered ripples/wrinkles in A106 seamless pipe. Is there an acceptance crtia for this? Nominal wall thickness is fine but corrision is a concern.

    false certs

Have you read your contract? Does it state qualified personal? ASME might not be able to do anything but if your contract was properly written with these types of scenarios there is always the possibility of lawsuits.

    ASME B31.3 Leak Tests

If you can prove that the valve has been tested and no welding has been performed on the line or valve, I don't see why any inspector would require a re-hydro test of the line for a simple valve exchange (imagine the hundreds of thousands of dollars wasted in live plants if this was the case)...

    UT help

Building piping to ASME B31.3. Client spec requires that all branch connections have 100% MPI and 10% UT. Have tried a specification deviation to allow only MPI which was approved but only for piping with wall thickness less then 3/8". Had a stub-on "Straight piece of pipe beveled end full pen...

    welding weaving

General rule of thumb and good welding practice is' weaves shouldn't be large then three times the rod diameter or 3/4" which ever is smaller

    Hardness on P1 after PWHT

We are currently doing 100% Hardness on P1 material after PWHT. These spools are locally Heat Treated and is completed purely for thickness (close to an inch) Client spec does not state anything on hardness testing and these spools are built to b31.3. I personally believe this is a good...
