Per SP001, you can use Leak Testing Method as a form of inspection in certain cases. They don't go into very much detail on the specifics of the different methods:
Gas Pressure Decay (includes vacuum decay)
Gas pressure soap bubble testing
Gas tracers (e.g., helium tracer)
Soil tracers...
My company has primarily used API 653 to use as a guide by which its tanks were inspected to.
It appears SP001 is gaining favor and has some advantages for tanks meeting certain criteria. Among the more attractive advantages are (possibly) longer intervals between inspections and in some cases...
I have since found out a little more detail about one installation. We installed a conservation vent set to begin opening at 9" WC and be fully open by 10" WC. On the very first loading cycle, with the scrubber set to hold 6" WC internal pressure in the tank, the conservation vent opened and was...
I believe the pressures are usually less than 10" WC, but at the end of the load as the operator blows down the tank and the last bit of acid leaves the tanker headed toward the storage tank, the large burst of air that enters the HCL storage tank could be driving up the pressure above 10"...
Thanks for the info.... I didn't intend to double post.....but it was suggested to post over on the Chemical forum..... which hasn't got much attention anyway.
In my situation, we are only using this very short term.... we are tweaking our fume scrubber design and vent line size. We need to see...
I am looking at:
Datalogger - a Dataq Instruments EL-USB-4 USB single channel 4-20 mA current loop data logger. $75.25
stores up to 32,000 readings. Can log at 1 per sec or up to 1 per 12hrs.... once you configure it and start it... you just let it collect unti you are through and plug it...
Yes, I used to have one of their big catalogs......there is so much stuff on there....it is mid boggling on what I actually need. I was hoping someone that is current on what is actally commercially available... recommend a particular sensor and the hardware to interface with it and a PC.... I...
I need to be able to datalog the pressure in the top of a 6500 gal 37% HCL tank to see what the pressure does as the tank is being loaded by a tanker truck.
We used some labview items back in college, but that has been years ago.
The pressure transducer needs to be capable of corrosive fumes...
I'll try over there.... but I am a ME and we dip our toes into many corners of engineering..... so I respectfully disagree..... datalogging pressure transducers is ME stuff to me.

I've been going round and round with trying to figure this out.
Product: 37% HCL
Tank: 6500 gal HDPE tank
There is an venting "study" where an engineering company studied the potential internal pressures and ACFM while loading HCL from a tanker truck into the storage tank. You can find this...
I ended up going with the AS equipment in a 13 SEER. I did choose to step up the inside furnace (on the 5 ton) to the furnace the distributor was specifying for the 15 SEER system....the evap coil (oddly enough) was the same from the 15 SEER to the 13 SEER.
I got the 2 stage gas valve with the...
I ended up just going with the American Standard equipment which comes with the TXV. I appreciate the design of the TXV as opposed to the fixed orfice. Once I read about both of them, I knew which one I had to have on my system.
williard3,
No.... but I was not expecting 2 days labor (contractor said it would take hopefully no more than a day and a half) , about 25' of supply duct, about 10' of return duct, a condenser unit concrete pad, the wiring for a 2 ton air handler and condenser unit (both very short runs under...
Can you install a TXV on a set of new coils like the all aluminum coils you can get with a Goodman unit? The best I can tell.... they only come with a "check flowrater" which upon googling that.... It is just a fixed orfice. I really want the TXV but would like to consider a goodman split...
