Large reversible medium speed diesels use independent fresh, sea water and lubricating oil pumps. As far as i have even seen engine driven pumps are only used on vessels' with reversing geasrboxes or control pitrch propellers.

The turbine and gear bearings of a marine propulsion set were found blackened and harder than expected. A surveyor said it could be caused by tin oxide corrosio. What is tin oxide corrosion? Any other ideas?
