Replace of boiler's pressure relief valves

I think you are outside the National Board "R" Stamp (Repair to boiler and pressure vessels) boundry and replacing pressure piping might require a "PP" stamp

    welder qualification ASME-IX

My only point was that Section IX does state "The performance Qualification test shall be welded in accordance with a qualified WPS (except when preheat or post heat is required, as that may be omitted). I agree that material substitutions are allowable as long as there is a Qualified WPS to...

    Inspection, examination, and testing...ASME B31.3

In the ASME code there is an "Authorized Inspector" ...not to be confused with a qualified "NDT Technician". Is it the same in ANSI B31.3 work?

    welder qualification ASME-IX

True enough, But didn't the welder had to follow a qualified welding procedure to weld the stainless pipe to stainles pipe with carbon steel electrode for the qualification test coupon listed? And since changing "A" numbers are esential procedure variables for GTAW, wouldn't one have to...

    welder qualification ASME-IX

Re: your #1 qualification: I am curious what is the application to weld a 300 series stainless steel pipe to pipe weld with an ER70S carbon steel welding rod.

    Code question

We have a 165psi MAWP ASME stamped air tank on new construction portable construction equipment. Air suppied by large compressor. From vessel is 6-inch sched40 discharge piping. This piping has both slip on flanges and welded tee and elbow fittings with pipe to pipe butt joints. Discharge...

    Compressed air line weld joint

Part of the assembly we manufacture has a large volume air compressor. There is steel piping coming off of an air storage tank (an ASME "U" stamped vessel with a MAWP of 150 psi.) The safety relief valve is also 150 psi. The steel piping is carbon steel 4" dia. sched. 40. The welded joints...

    Nitralloy

You need a Welding Procedure Specification (WPS) for the welder to follow during the welder qualification testing. What does the welding procedure say about PWHT? Do you have a qualified procedure now?

    pipe code question

What code covers the welding of steel pipe lines coming from an ASME Section 8 stamped compressed air receiver? Is this the ANSI B31.9 code? (the system has a 130 psi safety relief pressure). Does the applicable code require certified welders to make the pipe welds?

    welding from one side

Just an FYI- AWS D1.1 does not consider any weld joint, welded from one side with backing, that is not steel to be pre-qualified. welding with copper backing, ceramic backing, etc.will require procedure qualification.

    pipe weld question

A large machine we build and sell has an air compressor that feeds an air holding tank. The compressor is either diesel or electric motor driven. The air holding tank is an ASME "U" stamped pressure vessel, MAWP is 250 psi. There is a short pipe piece that connects the air compressor to the...

The air holding tank is an ASME "U" stamped pressure vessel, MAWP is 250 psi. There is a short pipe that connects the air compressor to...
