it is a production quantity for small pumps from a oversea supplier.
The supplier didn't advise us there is a failure and weld repair.

You are right, I believe it is a porosity area caused by poor casting design.
I believe they did the hydro as they provided the photos and it is 1st order which also make no sense for them to skip ruling out bad parts.

we have received a pump casing casting from a foundry. it seems they did some weld repair on it.
The foundry did the hydro-test (1000PSI, 15mins) and it passed.
After we received the part and we redo the test after a few days.
It leaks around the weld repair.

For VFD driven water pumps, if the pumps will operate in different speeds, when the shop tests (like vibration) are requested, does the pump supplier need to do the test at different speed? Or just at the rated rpm?
I tried to find some reference but didn't find anything helpful in HI standard...
On many website, they list ASTM A995 Gr. 6A as an equivalent of Zeron or even as Zeron.
But when I check the chemical composition, it seems they are not exactly same.

Currently, the pump is fasten to the motor by an adapter (motor is permanant installed on ground)
but the discharge end of the pump are only supported by floor jacks with rollers.

what do you mean, I was thinking API 610 specifies that the connection on the pump casing shall be flanged except in/out seal gland.

Per my past experiences, it is normal practice to use threaded connection for seal flush plans in API pumps as per API 610 section 6.4.3.1, it clearly specifies that all auxiliary connection to pressure casing except the SEAL Gland shall be flange connection

I am working with a pump company and they have a software to estimate the rpm (by the tip speed) by the pump head.
It seems they may have some tested data for a better relationship between tip speed and pump head.
