    Vacuum CB's potentially dangerous?

    SF6 breakers can monitor and trip on low gas pressure. What if a vacuum CB was opened under load with no vacuum in bottles? Can this be monitored similar to SF6 bottles?

    Medium Voltage Air Circuit Breakers

    Are ALL medium voltage air circuit breakers considered obsolete now? Are there ANY manufacturers left? Or has all NEW installations gone the route of vacuum or SF6? I know there are direct replacement vacuum breakers and also reconditioned or used breaker vendors.

    Does anybody have a reason why Solid State motor starters aren't used more often to replace the more expensive electro-mechcanical type of starter ?
