Can anyone please forward me a copy of the paper.
And thanks BigH for the info.
Can anyone please direct me to the paper by Meyerhof (1957) "The Ultimate Bearing Capacity of Foundation on Slopes". The bearing capacity factors in most literatur I have found refers to this paper. The vertical axis of the graphs included in this paper are non linear. I am trying to find out...

Thanks
Can some one please explain me in simple terms what the difference between drained and undrained condition is? And for sand and clay what conditions to use? Specially for sand since the parameters dont change a lot for the two conditions which one do you use when performing finite element analysis
The test does have a unload reload. i checked a couple of text books but all of them had the curve plotted with void ratio against vertical stress. my question is what do i do if the plot is strain % against vertical stress
Here is my question.
I have consolidation curves plotted with strain % against vertical stress. I am trying to determine the recompression index from the curves.
Any suggestions?
Can anyone please give me an idea about how we can calculate elastic settlement of a large area with a surcharge. The area is being filled to a thickness of 6 feet with normal backfill material. Generally elastic settlement is not necesarry but in this case due to existing utilities it is...
