If you are using AutoVue to open pro e drawings you need to have a setting selected in ProE when the drawing is saved. I think it is called something like "display view enabled". I'm not sure as I just lost all emails in my inbox...our computer guy did something with the network over...
detroitpickles-
In the pre release of 2003 it could open pro e files, they pulled it for sp 0.0 b/c of a few bugs and are planning on putting it back.
I still have 2003 pre release on my system and CAN open pro e files with it.
The old way of drawing in CAD here is wireframe in cadkey. We run unfold and it creates a flat layer and thickness layer. I can open a cadkey file in solidworks but I'm not sure if they geometry is of any use. Any ideas? I could forward one of my cadkey files if anyone is willing to help me...
I get errors sometimes when doing that, but only in certain spots and not all the time. (That is frustating too). I never had the problem with entering math operations until I upgraded to Plus. I am suposed to be getting a new computer with windows 2000, but now I have NT. I was told by...
I have been getting a puzzling error recently. I will be working in Solidworks and get distracted and minimize SWx and go and work in other programs such as Outlook Express, Cadkey, AutoCad, Excel etc. This happens all the time, I may have solidworks minimized for a few hours. The only time I...
Hmmm, my SWx tech support people have been trying to help me find a way to open Pro E drawing files for months now. They have been playing around with 2003 for some time now (beta versions etc.) and they never said that Solidworks even tried to have opening the drawing files as an option. They...
Hello,
Someone emailed me yesterday with questions regarding this thread. I was just getting ready to leave for the night. My intentions were to send a reply this morning. When I got to work I found out that work was done on our network last night and my inbox was deleted!! So I'm sorry that...
I have been searching for months and still have not found a way to open Pro E drawing files (unless the person sending you the drawing files is willing to change a few of their settings). I receive Pro E files everyday from various customers. Because SW2003 is still pre release this is my work...
Get into excel and go to
Program Files\SolidWorks\lang\english
You should see a sample bend deduction table. You can make a copy of that and then enter your numbers/formulas for your tooling, save it in this same area. Then when you have a part go to the sheetmetal properties and pick your...
The formula we use for figuring radius bends is
Bend allowance =
(.01743xIR)
+
(.0078 x T)
x
Angle
IR=inside radius
T=thickness of material
This is very accurate for our brakes but I know every shop seems different as on several occasions we have gotten so busy that we had to outsource things...
KVision,
The people we receive the drawings from are not willing to do this for us. We had planned on buying autovue but the save display option has to be turned on to open the drawings. Our customer unfortunatly would not turn it on for us. The situation is that our customer has two vendors...
Yes I have all of the relating files - parts, assemblies etc. I got a folder off of an ftp site from our customer with about 700 files in it. I have asked a friend working at another company to open a few of the drawings with his ProE and save them as dxf's for me so I could get this project...
Thanks, It is not a huge problem for me to draw things on the inside. Especially if it lets me get tight corners. I didn't think to try using that option.
Thanks!
I just discovered that even though I was told that Spinfire by Actify could open ProE drawing files it can't.
I am still on the search for another program/viewer. Has anyone out there ever had success getting the Product View Express to work? I emailed PTC and they suggested using it but I...
