Best Reinforcement Detail by stepped column?

hooks? Yes why not. The column bars are 20 mm diameter and the slab is 250mm, the beam is additional 250. BauTomTom

    Moments? Beam to Column connection

-- to csd72 --- How you mean fixed? Of course they will be fixed to the column but the question is. Which eccentricity will I get from the beam on the column? Of course I would like that the beam “B” would give his load in the center axis of the column, but how? -- to e104909 —- By a corbel...

Best Reinforcement Detail by stepped column?

Hi Struct.Engs. I would like to ask you for your advice, which reinforcement arrangement did you make best experience? The case is: A column changes the Dimensions from 450x800mm to 450x450mm what is the best way to stop the reinforcement now? i prepared some sketches for you, it would be...

    Moments? Beam to Column connection

Hi Struct.Engs. I have a problem with a ansymetric column. Don't know if I get Fixing Moments by a Column-Beam connection and if I get, with wich lever arm? It is actually a typical detail but how to handel it? BauTomTom

    joints in the surfacebed?

-- to Ron -- perfect, thanks really a lot for your infos. This was now a crash course into the joints :-) I think I got it now, the rules and the types Thanks BauTomTom

expansion joint between wall and surface bed? really needed?

Now I got a answer from four engineers, which I wanted to hear, very good :-) and not even one person with a other opinion. So now for me is clear NO EXPENSION JOINT at this spot, only a bond breaker, but even this one is probably not even needed. Thanks a lot guys BauTomTom

expansion joint between wall and surface bed? really needed?

-- to OhioMatt – I agree, just a bond break which comes by a but joint actually automatically. Ok the Idea of the vapor barrier just to pull it up would be also good. Are you not taking the vapor barrier then into the wall? -- to Ron – Is a isolation joint not the same as a expansion joint...

expansion joint between wall and surface bed? really needed?

Hallo In the books you find every time the same detail. Between the wall and the surface bed you should have the expansion joint. Here in South Africa it is 12mm. It is a problem because it must be sealed and 12mm is somehow to much. ants could also come through this joint into the building...

    joints in the surfacebed?

Hallo are there some experiences in the setting out of the joints in the surface bed? you need to provide some construction joints and also some saw cut joints in the concrete floor on the ground (surface bed) how should this areas be specified? squares like 4m x 4m? can they be also...

column link spacing - above and below slabs and beams

For example column 600x400mm. then you reduce the spacing on the lenght of the 600mm above and below the slab? or would it be more practical to do the whole column directly with the shorter spacing? BauTomTom

sand layer under surface beds? recommended?

200mm sandlayer ??? this is to much for my case. This would mean further excavations and costs higher then 2.75mm sand this makes sensse BauTomTom

sand layer under surface beds? recommended?

--to Ron-- thanks for the comment compact well: this makes also sense, right capillary barrier: by normal sand? gravel I would understand but by sand? less restrictive friction surface: this didn't come in my mind but you right. so in the end you would definately say it should be provided...

sand layer under surface beds? recommended?

Hallo Engineers I just wanted to find out if it necessary to provide a sand layer under the concrete surface bed. Very often you see this detail in books. I guess it is there to level the natural ground Section would be then (from top to bottom): 1. tiles 2. surface bed 100 mm 3. plastic...

max Ratio Reinforcement to Concrete area ?

-- to hoki66 -- but how can this be that the compressive strenght will be negative influenced if you still specifie for example 35 Mpa concrete and the test cubes will also give you this strenght so it seams that if the concrete design is properly done it can't have a negavite impact BauTomTom
