    hard contact and mpc

in fact it is not possible to do that . The solid are in contact and during a weld pass I need to Tie the nodes ( time dependant function MPC) progressively. Thank you for answering. bat585

    Plotting Neutral Axis

you can print a .txt file with the nodes number, their coordinates and all the stress results you want. first you have to run your analysis with a new field output request : you will have to ask for the coordinates of the nodes by crossing coordinates in volume/thickness/coordinates. Then...

    hard contact and mpc

hello I'm modeling two solids: an hard contact exists between the two solids so that there is no penetration of one solid in the other. Then I want to constraint a part of the common surface with a MPC function in order to link the two solids. An error message occurs : because of the MPC...

    plasticity

In fact, even if I use an hardening model, those Warnings appear... I think Abaqus can calculate but uses very short time increments (1e-7) No way to change that? bat585

    plasticity

Thank you for answering. My load is a temperature predefined field, therefore I cannot do like it is suggested in the post you showed me. I will try with a hardening model like you said. Thank you ! bat585

    plasticity

all is ok in elastic case I'll try to reduce the increment and tell you if it's ok... Thanx bat585

    plasticity

I'm doing a plastic analysis ( perfect plasticity ) and I get this warning before the analysis stops ***WARNING: THE STRAIN INCREMENT HAS EXCEEDED FIFTY TIMES THE STRAIN TO CAUSE FIRST YIELD AT --- POINTS ***WARNING: THE STRAIN INCREMENT IS SO LARGE THAT THE PROGRAM WILL NOT...

Zero, small, or negative element area?

Hello I don't now if you have meshed your part with abaqus pre proc or by yourself, but I had the same problem with a mesh I had generated by myself and I solved it by changing the order of the nodes on each element Hope I helped bat585

    One element differs

My mesh is ok and I don't have any point loading. In fact this error occurs in the last increment of my step. (999/1000) Maybe I should increase the number of increments... Thank for your answer

    One element differs

When I'm performing a static analysis, one element differs from the others in the result (big discontinuity in the stress field). Any idea where it can come from? Thanx Bat585

    Removing a boundary condition

Ok thanks for your answers. In fact it is ok if I put enough increments.

    Removing a boundary condition

Hi ! It doesn't change anything because I'm in static general analysis. Do you know what king of analyis would be better? Bat585

difference between 2d and 3d results

Are you sure youare using the adequate load in the 3D model? If you are applying for example a pressure on your 2D model you apply it on the thickness you have defined in the section assignement, whereas you are applying on the real face f a 3D model... If that's OK I don't have any idea...

    Removing a boundary condition

I'm trying to remove boundary conditions in the last step of a steady state analysis. The problem is that the reaction forces are too important and removing the boundary conditions implies a too big movement of one of my parts. -> Fixed time increment is too large What should I do...

difference between 2d and 3d results

I think you have to be careful of the way you have meshed your 2D part : you can use plane stress elements or plane strain elements. Try both but I think that plane strain elements will give a better result bat585
