    Miniature ABB Breaker Failure

To davidbeach I'm not sure whether the 480V system is solidly grounded. But will find out later this week when I return to Mexico. I wouldn't believe there is over voltages as the substation from where it is fed is within 200'. I did check voltages and found them to be 474/474/474 at the...

    Miniature ABB Breaker Failure

To Waross/Jraef, First of all, the wiring connections were contained within pin connections and wire strands could not be loose to cause a short circuit. Also the wiring terminal entries are about 1/2" below the terminal screws where the flash over occurred. The flash over/short was between...

    Miniature ABB Breaker Failure

Hi All, Has anyone had or heard of a miniature ABB 2 pole breaker failing? I was in Mexico last week commissioning our equipment that has a number of ABB miniature breakers installed in the Control Cubicle. On switching on the main 200A/480V disconnect, also in the control cubicle. There was a...

Muriatic acid flush for lime feed lines.

Acid recirc as mentioned previously should work OK. We use this method to get rid of Magnesium Hydroxide in piping as well as the Calcium. However, you would be wise to speak with your chemist before trying it out.

Muriatic acid flush for lime feed lines.

Pump2005, When you say lime, do you mean CaCo3 build up? if so you will need to circulate either Hcl or sufphamic (sulfamic) acid through the line at approximately 10%. We have a mobile acid cart with a tank and mag-drive kynar pump and connect the discharge from the acid pump at the head end of...

    Pressure Transducer

Thank you AGomaa We are using a Wika ECO-1 with fluid filled diaphragm seal. What do you mean by "Have a filling sealed fluid?" I don't know this term. Barrie66

    Pressure Transducer

Hi All, We have a problem with a pressure transducer with a diaphragm isolater connected to an acid tank. The tank level varies from 10 - 100" (4-20mA). The problem is that the head pressure is so small that it takes a pressure change of around 20" for the diaphragm to move (jump) from convex to...

    IEC Type MCCs and Cables

Thanks jraef/tommy for the input. The problem we have is that we need the MCC to factory test our OEM equipment before export!! It really would be a pain to import it from o/seas then re-export again, having to go through the gyrations with import duties etc. It certainly looks like that is the...

    IEC Type MCCs and Cables

To ALL, Does anyone know whether there is a company manufacturing IEC type tested Form 4 draw out MCCs in N. America? We are bidding on a job in the ME that rquires 415V 50Hz IEC type MCCs. It also requires 0-1kV XLPE multi conductor cables so I also want to know whether these are available...

    Bisulphite vs Thiosulphate ?

Chris both of these chemicals gives off SO2, I really like hydrogen peroxide for dechlor.

    MVA, MVAR & MW ??

With regards to "What happens when all those workers turn off their motor driven machines at the end of the work day and go home and turn on their electric space heaters, coffee pots, toasters, ovens, and lights. You get the picture, purely resistive load, approaching unity power factor" as...

    MVA, MVAR & MW ??

BEPC13 explained it correctly however, it may be clearer to simply state that an MVAR meter in a power plant is a center zero device. By raising the machine volts the generator will export VARs to the system and conversely by decreasing the machine volts VARs will be imported to the generator...

Welding Machine connections caused earthing cable damage

You may not have 400V single phase but you sure do have 415V single phase which is quite OK for connection for the welding machine. Obviously the welding return cable was not properly connected to a low resistance return path so it selectively chose the machine earth wire. A very common...

    Glycol Contamination

Sorry guys. We are an OEM providing hypochlorite generators. This particular application is on board a fishing vessel in the Bering Sea. The heat exchanger is a commercially available shell and tube, specifically for seawater applications. The coolant is recirculated through the heat exchanger...
