    Runway beam Design code

Hi All, we are designing a runway beam ,i would appreciate if any one could let me know any relevant american codes that i can use for designing the runway beam. we have been using eurocodes in the past, but the beam is failing under the code. Thanks Badri07.

    BS2573

Hi Ussuri, Thank you for the post,i am just wondering is it ok to jump codes as you say from BS2853 to BS449:1969 just for the bolts. you are correct,BS2853 has got FOS of 8 on bolts, thats the reason its not passing the code. Thanks

    BS2573

HI All, I am trying to verify a runway beam, against the code BS273:1957,the bolted connection on the beam seems to be a problem. The factor of saftey seems too large and the bolts are failing against the code. I would appreciate if you could let me know if there is a work around to solve this...

Contacts for bolted connections in workbench

Hi All, I am analysing a box section that has got plate bolted on to it,i am not intrested in the bolts as it is,i have calculated the tension in the bolts and applied a tensile load on the bolt holes, The aim of the analysis is to know about the stress pattern in the box section and the plate...

One or more contact regions may not be in initial contact.

1)i would try checking the solution information under solution, normally it will give you more information on the error. 2)Try adjusting the default value of the tolerance slider under connections.
