Sizing a pre-heat coil with a vav system...

Jazzerman, yuo are correct. I need to break out the good o' ASHRAE book and crank through those numbers to determine actual minimum settings. 317609, sorry, yes, they are air handlers with chilled water cooling coils located on the roof. The supply fan is on a VFD to modulate with the vav boxes...

Sizing a pre-heat coil with a vav system...

Ok kids, hold on to your hats... I am working on a 4 story science and mathmatics building for a local college. The system will consist of rooftop units with chilled water coils and pre-heat coils, chillers, boiler, pumps etc, with vav boxes serving the classrooms and offices. In trying to size...

    Carrier HAP ??

Hey guys and gals, I am running some loads for a new restaurant. I was given the following parameters to run loads: Weather Data Knoxville, Tn Maintain between 70-73 degrees cooling in the space total of 160 occupants The space is open from 12-2 for lunch, and from 6-9 pm for dinner. The...

    Janitor Closet Ventilation

What he said. I always exhaust janitors closets, usually the same rate as a restroom, 75 cfm per fixture.

Calculating how much moisture removal is required..

I am working on a project for a local 4H camp. They have dormitories where the kids sleep, up 50 per dorm, with a shared shower/toilet room. 4 showers and 4-5 toilets. Currently there is no exhaust at all (not sure how they got away with that, as the windows are not operable). The shower/toilet...

    Maintenance tunnel ventilation

So, i am wrapping up a project for an automotive injection moleding facility. There is a maintenance shaft that runs through the plant, with an open set of stairs on one end and a normally closed hatch at the other. It's about 120' long, 8' tall. The only piping in the tunnel is carrying plastic...

    Brewery HVAC design

Ok, so i was handed a new project the other day here at the office : a brewery that will offer co-op. They will let others come in and use the equipment to brew beer. I have some equipment cut sheets from the owner. One question i have for the architect that no one has asked yet is if the hops...

    Positive Building pressure

Hey guys, sorry if this has been covered before. It comes up from time to time on jobs i work on. I have an elementary school addition. We are positive by 2,300 cfm after all the exhaust and o.a. as required by the student loads. I swear i remember doing a calculation years ago for building...

    HEPA Filters..

Ok guys, i need to design some new HEPA filters into an existing duct system. Having trouble finding information on what size filter box i would need. My existing supply ductwork is 30x22 and carries 5,000 cfm. Also, i need to determine what the static pressure drop will be, because i am pretty...

Is this the domestic hot water or heating hot water system?

    EPA Energy Star Certification

I would say for the year the building was built. I believe you are only required to upgrade to current codes if you do a renovation over a certain percentage of what the building is worth (i think). I would start with whatever was current for the year the building was built.

    Heat Loss/ Gain Calculation

When i started back in 1995, we used Trane Tracer, but my company also sent me to the local Trane A/C classes for 9 weeks. They actually taught us the hand method, and it made learning the computer version actually easier for me. Takes some experiance to look at a load and tell if you did it...

    Reduce cfm

When you have an oversized unit, you are constantly cycling the compressor on and off. Bad for dehumidifciation.. horrible if you are in a humid climate (Florida). If this is an enclosed multi-story mall, yeah, 12 tons is overkill. I am all too familiar with owners having shallow pockets. Be...

    Water fountain water consumption

I don't think there is one for misc. items like drinking fountains... i know i looked before. Interesting to see if someone turns something up.
