The forgings are purchased in accordance with NORSOK M-630 MDS54, grade F53. No indications of intermetallics on micro performed in the material certificates.
But in general there should not be any difference in corrosion resistance between plate and forging, right?
Hi,
We have a case where we have experienced crevice corrosion on SDSS flanges made from forged material but not for those made from plate, in the same environment. Both are UNS S32750. The environment is chlorinated seawater (dosing ranging from 0,2 to 0,7 ppm) and a seawater temperature...
Hi,
We have an ongoing discussion with a foundry about the thickness of a gated casting test block. The thickest section of the casting is 200 mm, but the foundry insists its within the standard by having the thickness of 162 mm on the test block, see highlighted in yellow.
My interpretation...
Hi,
I have a case where we are changing out anodes (Al-Zn-In) on a pipe in carbon steel (exact grade unknown to me atm) submerged in seawater. The issue is that we only have available anodes with anode brackets made from 316L. How will this affect the protection of the carbon steel pipe? Will...
