Maybe I should clarify myself and say they are tapered octahedron members that are about 60' tall. They will be used for an industrial application to support electrical equipment. Maybe I should be asking about mono pole design? Does Risa have mono pole design with tapered members?
I have a situation where I have to design steel tapered hollow columns which have both axial and bending loads. Does anyone know where I can find some good information on tapered members and their design? Also, can tapered members be entered into Risa? Thanks
I have a typical poured concrete foundation basement wall that rests on a concrete footing. I always provide dowels into the footing that match the vertical bars in the wall. Since the dowels are not it tension or compression, what is the required lap length?
These are existing joists with Bethlehem tags. I just thought I could make my life easier by tracking down the tag numbers with old shops. Has somebody taken over for Bethlehem or have they simply folded?

Table 2.2.3.2 in the ACI 530 gives values for flexural tension. Would normal to bed joint mean my masonry wall would be spanning vertically? I get this confused everytime I look at it. Thanks
I know lateral bracing is ineffective if it is placed near the center of the beam. I know the ideal place is to brace the compression flange. I have a situation where it would be ideal someplace in between. What works? What doesn't? Thanks
