    Subsurface stresses elliptical contact area

Dear all, first of all, thanks for your help and the great links. volpegrigia: if you could upload a pdf of the needed section this would be great (not only for me, I guess. Many thanks in advance. Regards, Arnold

WORKBENCH - Scripting API & Customizing Reports

Hi, if I recall correctly there was a similar thread in teh ansys workbench portal on the ansys site recently. There you will also find a lot of examples of jscripting inside WB. Since there is hardly any documentation on the WB API, scripting in WB can cause some headaches.....Wish you lots of...

    Subsurface stresses elliptical contact area

Dear Forum, I am trying to calculate the different subsurface stresses over the depth for an elliptical contact area. I have formulas for a line contact and a point contact on a flat surface, but not the formulas for an elliptical contact, which should be the ones in a ball bearing. Can anybody...

Static spur gear calculation acc. DIN 3990

Dear all, I have to make a static spur gear calculation acc. to DIN 3990. In part 5 of this standard, diagrmms are available, which show the fatigue limit for pitting. Since I will have to calculate a static case, I am not sure if these values are appropriate for my calculation. E.g. for...

    Path results - radial displacement

Dear Ansys users when I want to get the path results from a straight edge in WB, I use the code snippet /POST1 /show,png /gfile,650 /RGB,INDEX,100,100,100,0 /RGB,INDEX,0,0,0,15 PATH,straigth,2,6,20 PPATH,1,,41.275,41.275,52.387, PPATH,2,,41.275,41.275,68.263, PDEF,straigth,U,X...

    MIL HDBK 6875

Hi, in the MIl-HDBK -5H (or MMSPD01) is very often referred to the heat treatment handbook MIL-HDBK-6875. As far as I know, this handbook is canceled. Can anybody provide a copy, can tell me where to get a copy or can tell me where to find the replacement? Many thanks in advance. Arnold

    Hirth Coupling

DVE, sorry, totally forgot this thread. you should now have the file. Hopefully you will find somebody who knows some germen (although the formulas are shown as well as some sketches). Good luck (and hopefully the file isn't too late :-))

    Meshing frustrations

the mesher is not always that good, but a lot of meshing problems can be solved by proper modelling. Especially things like "exotic" radius transitions or very small hight differences can cause a lot of problems. In the mean time I think I am able to identify the problematic areas very good...

    Varying load in Mechanica

I never tried to apply a load (or pressure) different in all directions. To me it seems just a proper selection/creation of the coordinate system the load refers to and proper definition of the load function in all directions (the more complicated part, but not too complicated).

    material property for wear

Hi folks, I am currently benchmarking the wear beahavior of some different materials against a constant materials. As far as I understood, an important material property is the hardness. The hardness of the material which is used as wear partner is appr. 60 HRC. The material with the best...

    Belleville washer spring model

for a clutch spring with fingers (i.e. a diaphragm spring) you will need an adjusted version of the "standard" belleville spring calculations by almen & lazlo. you will then get a quite good approximation (although I think every spring manufacturer uses in house adjusted equations to cope with...

Hi DVE, i have made some calculations for a design study a little time ago. the spreadsheet I used must still be somewhere around. I cn have a look if I still have it and send you a copy of it (if you want) Regards, Arnold
