Can someone tell me how to lookup or calculate the maximum allowable misalignment between a set of mating splines?
For example, I have a spline coupling (external and internal mating splines) where I have a 24/28 DP, 30 degree pressure angle, 32 tooth spline specified as a Class 5 fit.
How...
Funny you should mention that. After I thought I was onto something I tried it on a new document and it failed. So to answer your question, it only seems to work int he document i created it in. I also tried creating the note, saving it as a block, and going that route.. it had the same...
Same here. I have taught many companies making the switch over to Solidworks to do Tool & Die, and Mold making. I have also taught at companies using it for their product design as well. Everything from Shoes to plastic molded consumer products to vehicles to nuclear reactors!
Like any other...
^ I am creating them while inside of the note. So i click the insert note on the annotations toolbar and begin typing.
When I get to the part where i need to add the GD&T its pretty simple. If you look in the property manager of the note, you will see under the text format section, there are...
Hey I think you have the wrong group for this question. This is about Solidworks CAD design software, but I was intrigued since once a welder, always a welder!
I did find a document here...
Just an update here:
I recreated the note and this time instead of using cut and paste, I created it all manually and added the GD&T frames plus the surface finish symbols again.
I create a new Style in the note property manager calling it "SAND CAST"
Then saved that note style to my library as...
Thanks Zeusfaber!
I figured as much but before i opened my mouth i thought i would ask the experts.
@ LittleInch, I did try what you mentioned originally, but when I click the open, nothing happens, no zapping and the upload image dialog still remains (with no file selected) The file is a...
Good afternoon,
I have created a library of parametric notes for my designers to use when creating the detail drawings.
These notes contain the usual text, links to custom properties & special properties. They also have GD&T frames, And surface finish symbols.
Everything works except for the...
I originally tried to use that but i asks you to select a file. I select a file, then the only button i have left is cancel!
How about if I describe it to you.
Picture a proportional valve 4 port 2 position (infinite position, spring return, electrically actuated)
Normally closed position =...
Which PDM are you using? Workgroup? or Enterprise?
The vault resides on the company server therefore if you are not on the domain you cannot connect with the vault period. The company domain admin account credentials don't matter. The vault is set up by the PDM administrator and as such has...
Good morning,
This is most likely and easy one for you seasoned folks. I have a schematic where it shows me a proportioning valve that is different then i have ever seen.
Can someone tell me what this is? (See picture)
Regards,
Jon...
There's a few ways to do that depending on what you want to accomplish.
If you have a series of surfaces that make a closed volume and are not yet knit together, you can use the surface knit tool. Select all of the surfaces and once you select the last one that closes it off, you will see an...
First of all you would not be able to do a simulation like that with standard solidworks or even solidworks premium. You would need a higher end package (at least Simulation Premium. Something that provides access to defining materials with non-linear orthotropic properties. For the Dipennet...
Why not go back to them and have them automate the whole process such that it opens all of the assemblies, repairs them and saves them then moves on to the next assembly and repeats until all the assembly files in the vault are updated? Should be a rather simple addition to the code.

Jon
