We used a lot of pemnuts and pemstuds at a previous job. We created the sheet metal part, then created an assembly of the sheet metal part and pemnut. That way the BOM is associative and the shop knows what the assembly looks like.
Scott,
I've personally had better luck with Parasolid or STEP files. You are right, though, it does depend of the source. Most of the IGES files I've received were surface models with missing faces. Not a lot of fun to deal with. It's okay for graphic representation, but I couldn't mate...
I'd rather slam my hand in a door than use IGES. Parasolid and STEP are your best bets to transfer models. Is the part from an outside vendor, or from an in-house user? It's best to have everyone on the same version, although it doesn't always happen that way.
Good luck!

I've used both Unigraphics from V10.4 through NX9 and Solidworks 2014 & 2015. NX is definitely a better package, but it's also a lot more expensive. What kind of work are you doing? I haven't run into anything I couldn't model in Solidworks, although it can be a bit kludgy to get some things...
Good morning,
I need to put a third angle projection symbol in my title block. However, the user defined symbol doesn't change size when you adjust the text font size. Is there a symbol in NX 11 that is scalable, or do I need to create a new custom symbol to do it?
Thanks!
Al
I've always used a 3D controller when working with 3D cad systems. I did have to order one for one job, and working with just a mouse is maddening for me. I prefer to have a 3D controller. I do happen to be using a 3DConnexion controller, and I love it. Yes, I would like more than two buttons on...
Thanks for your help! I was able to get the parts modeled with no trouble.
Then they cancelled the project.

At least I learned something useful.

Good morning,
I'm working on SW 2015, SP5 on Windows 7 Professional.
I'm trying to create a curved flange on a sheet metal part. The part has a flat face, then has a flange that follows a 2.935" radius. Normally, I would just extrude this particular part, but we need a flat pattern for...
When we upgraded our Teamcenter Express and installed NX7 3 weeks ago, we were told that was the latest version of NX7. Are there any issues in particular that are addressed in the MR?

John,
We're using NX 7.0.0.9 with Teamcenter Express 5. We cannot go to 7.5 until the next upgrade for Teamcenter Express 5 comes out in December. We're very upset that the the various groups at Seimens cannot work together to get their respective products out in a timely manner. We've had...
We've run into an issue with NX7 since we've changed over from NX5. When we're in drafting, the note in the lower left of the window will say that the views are out of date. When you go to update the views, they don't highlight like they should if they really were out of date. If you select...
We've just moved over to NX7 from using NX5. While synchronous modeling is great, I have to say we're not really fond of the changes to mating conditions (assembly constraints). Does anyone out here have anything they like in NX7 better than in NX5?
