    Arunmrao, thanks for your reply. The only information i have to hand is that it is a 'runner wheel', I would suspect we are looking for reasonable abrasion resistance. I will try to find more information presently.

    Thanks kindly Arunmrao. That may well come in very handy. I think the customer has been given the option of a French spec Z80CM or something that was very similar to their original spec, but with slightly higher nickel (maybe this is what the original supplier was aiming for).

    Metengr I have been led to believe that an indent of a drag chain may previously have been left when this part (a roller) was issued by a previous supplier. Arunmrao I don't really want to be having to hard face these items.

    Are there any materials anyone could recommend for being at service a maximum of 500°C. The part in question will be in contact with other cast parts and so would require some form of wear resistance. Would an as-cast 309C40 25/12 material be ideal in such situations?

    bcd, I haven't actually been down this route yet, but think it may be the next step. I wanted to be sure there was nothing untoward in our melting process. I can't imagine the tooling is an issue, however, due to the fact the same tooling is used for both our castings and our competitors castings.
