Thanks for the replies.
What I didn't mention is that portions of this raft slab actually make up the bottom of some swimming pools (the job in question is a massive community centre), so cracking is my main concern. I visited the site to inspect rebar for a subsequent pour and 14 days after...
Question for all you concrete chemistry experts;
I have a job where I'm overseeing construction for the EOR. They're pouring the raft slab now and I'm starting to get concrete cylinder tests. I have a specified strength of 35 MPa (about 5000 psi) and I'm surprised to see tested strengths of 45...
that spreadsheet is pretty nifty, but since my other post got deleted i'll just mention that an extra license for a paid software package we have was made available to me, so that solves my problem for now.
thanks guys!
hello all,
looking for a free program that will allow me to define multi (various length) span beams with various applied loading and solve for shear and moment at various locations, as well as support reactions.
i've found beamboy somewhat useful, but it can be frustrating to find values...
thanks for the help so far guys.
last problem, any idea how to calculate the torsional properties? (such as Cw and J).
This might be a challenge. Any ideas?
Hello All.
I am doing a structural review for a rooftop solar panel racking system, which is comprised of extruded aluminum rails. I have CAD drawings of the extrusion profiles, and need to figure out section properties (moment of inertia, section modulus, etc)so I can calculate the compression...
i'm not sure how admin will feel about such an obvious plug, but our office purchased a program called CFS that is honestly a god send when it comes to these sorts of calculations. the question i posted in this thread was the result of me trying to follow through a CFS analysis to make sure i...
Hello All;
I am analyzing cold formed C and Z shaped steel roof purlins in an existing pre-engineered portal frame building. Each purlin is only single span (30' spans) but have a 5' lap over every support.
I have been using a program called CFS that analyzes cold formed steel sections, and...
looks like maybe posts have been deleted here, probably because of the sharing of personal information... but mr. roylance, if you're still there, i am still very interested in speaking to you about these joists. your experience is quite valuable to me, as i deal with analysing joists almost...
BA, i think you are right. just logically thinking, it doesnt seem like hardness and yield strength have a direct relationship. theres probably a correlation, but i dont think you could calculate yield accurately enough.
thanks for the comments, all.
