I have been asked the following question :
Two subsea gas pipelines, both shut-in, connected via a manifold with 6” gate valve as the barrier between the two pipelines.
Pipeline 1 : Volume =500m³, Pressure = 50 Bara, Temperature = 8°C
Pipeline 2 : Volume = 60m³, Pressure = 200 Bara...

I agree with NMcC's comments above.
Bulk de-watering off subsea gas lift lines is not sufficient ensure that hydrates don't form.
Generally due to terrain, sufficient water can collects at low points leading to hydrates in the line or downstream of gas lift chokes on the tree.
Generally you...
I have been asked a question by a colleague, it has left me unsure how to answer it.
A vertical cylinder type suction pile(ID=5m, L=6m), enclosed at the top, bottom is open ended (like a upside down bucket. It is lowered onto the seabed (water depth of 450m)at 2 m/s. The top of the the cylinder...
P* - is that downhole pressure / reservoir pressure?
Maximum shut-in pressure can be estimated by assuming a gas column in the tubing, known reservoir pressure, known tubing length (True Verticle Depth).
However calculating the flowing THP is more difficult. You need to know the PI, reservoir...

Software for pipeline pressure drops for single or multiphase fluids :
- Pipesim / Pipesim-Net Steady State [Schlumberger]
- Olga Transient multiphase [Scandpower]
- Flowmaster single phase transient
- Pipeflow steady state [neotech]
- Pipephase Steady State [Simsci]
In the UK North Sea sector, Pipesim/Pipesim-Net is widely used for steady state hydraulic & thermal Analysis. It is quite user friendly, but occasionally come across convergance problems especially for networks.
I have also used Pipephase (SimSci) in the past, it was less user friendly, but...
