As John suggested....I am running in studio mode to no avail....also the legacy raster image asks differently than a newly inserted, fresh NX9, as to look for the image...not edit....As Didier experienced
I am running studio mode and still the image is just grey....but when I insert a new image it displays...I am very versed with this process....and it seems that there is a problem with legacy files..

I do Class "A" surfacing, and to capture some characteristics from renderings, I would in the past, open up the jpg from my industrial designer from Photoshop, Illustrator, etc. and save a TIFF image off and bring it in as a raster image on plane.
If anyone has any knowledge of this...
Instead of using the ribbon bar, I created "menu's" and docked them below the ribbon bar, collapsed and only use the ribbon in isolated incidents, till I can modify my menus to my liking. I find that the menus with the ribbon is the most compact version of NX9. please see jpg to see my custom...

thanx guys...that is the way I work, with my "custom menu's" dropped in the top border bar below...see jpg....previous jpg I provided was NX9 in its "neutral" state....this jpg shows when I click the top bar tab at the top of the screen. I was hoping that there was a box to check to keep the top...

I didn't think there was a movie function in NX5?....I have ran the one in NX7.5. I will do that!....Thanx again Anthony. If I have to in NX5, I will load and run Captivate or Captiva. i am glad that you were able to duplicate the problem.
sorry...again....if you have the toggle turned off....you will get the "your about to delete the parameters, do you want to continue" message....NX5.....you could edit it with no additional feature and the intersect curve would update, no problem......NX7 you have to toggle on associative edit...
thanx for the update Anthony....but the key is introducing a trim sheet on any of the sheets, then try to do an unassociated edit xform....in NX5....no problem.....NX7....even without "associative edt freeform" toggled OFF.....you get an additiional feature..."XFORM"....in your part navigator....
I appologize about the miss information.....you can do an unassociated edit in XForm on a single sheet, with no features tied to it. I failed to mention the problem existed only when there were additional features tied to the unparamaterized sheet body....for example, an intersect curve, live...
thanx again Anthony...yes it does give you the message that it is about to strip the parameters...but when you continue, you get "Cannot remove feature parameters as it will require full model update. It is recommended to use feature parameters removal tool explicitly before using...
