BSPT threads interchangeable with NPTF threads

If I am not mistaken i believe the difference is in the number of threads per inch. For instance 1/4 bspt has 19 threads per inch where 1/4 nptf has only 18. These threads cannot be connected due to this factor. Ken

Does it pay to get the newest acad 2004?

Along the lines of the thread, when will Autodesk stop supporting ver. 2000. I had heard starting January 2004, they would stop selling upgrades from 2000? (which are cheaper) That might be a point to determine when to upgrade. If I were to do it I would want to use the lower priced upgrade...

    Importing Pro/E Part Files

What we do here is just export the file from Pro/E as a .dwg or .dxf file. Then we can open it up in AutoCad like a normal file.

    Web sites with Front Page

For my website I build it with Frontpage and then I use SmartFTP to upload it to the free host. It seems to work better than uploading from Frontpage. The host I use is www.0catch.com. It seems to work well for the most part. They offer paid services but I am only using the free stuff. If you...

50hz motor run in 60hz environment

I have a question concerning VFD's. When I set the output frequency (50hz) will the output voltage be reduced to 380V as well or is that a programmable function? I really don't know much if anything about VFD's but I am trying to learn as much as I can, as fast as I can. Thanks Ken

50hz motor run in 60hz environment

mbensema, d23, acmotorengineer, Thanks for your responses. I will be looking into the potential of purchasing a VFD but with the economy the way it is we will probably rent a generator to help us for now. This situation appears about once every year or two so I don't know if I can justify the...

50hz motor run in 60hz environment

I have a problem that I hope someone can help me with quickly. We are using a 100 hp 380v/3ph/50hz motor in a pedestal boom that we produce. We need to test this boom/motor combination in house. How can we test this assembly in house where we have 460/3/60hz supply. We need to simulate end user...

    dimensioning

Hi, I might have a solution for you. I agree that this will not be the favored way to dimension a drawing but I think that it will get you what you want. At the command line type DIMASO (this controls associative dimensioning) Type OFF Dimension your object like normal. After you specify the...

Torque needed to turn steel shaft

We will be using emory cloth to polish the shafts. They don't need an exceptional amount of clean up just enough to bring them back to as new condition. Yes we do have a 5 ton over head crane for use in loading the polisher. Ken

Torque needed to turn steel shaft

Thanks for your response. Well my brain has partially unstuck. I am trying to make a polishing stand for large shafts. I am going to use heavy duty casters inverted with the work piece resting on top of them. I will be driving 1 of the 4 wheels with a belt pulley setup connected to a...

Torque needed to turn steel shaft

Hello, My mind has drawn a blank. I need to determine the necessary torque turn a steel shaft. The shaft is 7" in diameter, 36" long, and weighs approx. 400 pounds. What torque is necessary to start from a stand still. I only want it to turn at 15-20 rpm.

Cam-Follower bearings (Searching for low cost source)

John, Have you tried McMaster-Carr? They seem to have fairly inexpensive bearings. Unfortunately the lowest price for the bearing in the size that you need is $7.50 ea. You could try them to see if they have anything cheaper. www.mcmaster.com Hope this helps.
