too bad nobody has already taken the McMaster Carr solidworks files and integrated them into a custom McMaster Carr toolbox for solidworks? that would be great!!!
what do you mean by "solids for fasteners from McMaster-Carr?"
I guess nobody sells a toolbox add-in or at least a custom toolbox directory that has standard hardware along with McMaster Carr part numbers on it?
I'm running Solidworks 2010 and one of the things I
really don't like is the included Toolbox. I find it's
lacking a lot of hardware that I often use in my
assemblies (bolts, nuts, washers, etc.). Plus each and
every time I need to modify the length of say a bolt it
makes a copy of the...
well I think I narrowed it down to either the Dell m4400 or new m4500... or the Lenovo w510
couple questions..
1.) Are both of these laptops now 16:9 screen perspective? is that a bad thing for Solidworks? all of my other laptops use regular screen perspective.
2.) Does the Dell or the...
I thinking I'm best off maybe buying a year old generation like the Dell m4400 or Lenovo W500 that still have the regular sized screens (non 16:9), plus they use the Dual Core 2 instead of the Quad cores.. I don't think the quad core is really going to help much with Solidworks alone.
My...
what made you go with the Dell over the Lenovo or HP? I have a Lenovo right now, great laptop, but crappy screen, not very bright at all. But I do like the little red button mouse in the center of the keyboard on the Lenovo!
some things that I would like...
-largest and brightest screen possible
-nVidia Quadro graphics card
-I like the little red trackpad button on the Lenovo/IBM laptops... not sure if any other laptops have this option
-not sure if Windows XP is still available or if you need to go Windows 7...
well the main issue I have right now is not with changing part names, because I can search all places the part name is being used and update it. The issue is when I change a directory name, etc... then the assemblies that reference that part don't automatically get updated with the new folder...
well in Solidworks Explorer, I choose in the options to add the main top level directory of where all my solidworks file live... such as the D:\Solidworks
Now when I look at an assembly file in solidworks explorer and choose the 'where used' tab.. it will search my entire D:\Solidworks...
