Grout repair and anchor bolt torque

Thank you all for your replies. The structure is a pipe rack. The grout is poured in a wrong form that they didn't leave perimeter around the base plate and it is cracking from several locations each column, so we will end up jack hammering and removing the grout, the problem now is the...

Grout repair and anchor bolt torque

Hello, We are working on a project that was installed about a year ago. Column base plates are on shims and torqued, then afterwards the contractor did all grouting but did not follow correct procedure and all grout started to crack. We are supposed to repair all grout for about 100 columns...

Coriolis Flow meter and air eliminators

Hello I am currently designing a truck unloading system that will include a coriolis micro motion series mass flow meter with rosemount transmitter. The fluid is diesel at ambient temperature. I am under the impression that this type of meter should handle the air that will be in the...

Dual Capstan Drum Dia. vs wire Dia

Thanks everyone for your input dhengr: yes this is the same setup I am designing. Rolmec: I believe the right way to phrase the question is: " Is there a difference between D/d of a wire on a Drum that will go round and round and wire on a pulley that will go only half a turn before it...

    Pipe to Pipe connection

The rule is basically stress analysis. When you cut a pipe you weaken it, when you weld back something to the cut you strengthen it an extend. depending on the thickness of the pipe, were it is supported and the pressure, temperature etc. you can figure this out. Basically racookpe1978...

Dual Capstan Drum Dia. vs wire Dia

Hello everybody I am designing a dual capstan winch that should be hauling 12-15 kips. The wire diameter is 1/2" and the capstan Diameter is approximately 8 which is consistent with ANSI B30.5. Now I need to know if the D/d ratios apply for the Dual capstan design. Basically the wire doesn't...

    Hydraulic motor sizing

Hello Everyone: I am designing a winch that would have a pull force of 20,000 lb. I determined that the torque required for it to move is 80,000 lb.in (I multiplied the force by the radius of the drum basically). I have selected a planetary drive that would give me a reduction of approximately...

PD or Centrifugal, which pump should be used for Oil Road Tanker unloading?

put a pulser on the discharge side of the pump, send the signal to a plc that would start counting when no flow is coming. set it to count 30 seconds of no pulse and after that shut the pump. same thing with flow switch (paddle style) setting. set it for some time of no flow to make sure you got...

Butt joint of rectangular tank shell?

Hello guys: Recently I have been working on welding details for rectangular oil storage tanks under UL142. The shell is 4.5 mm (3/16"). I have instructed the suppliers to connect the shells with a single V butt joint, which is a butt joint welded only from one side of the tank and I was under...

PD or Centrifugal, which pump should be used for Oil Road Tanker unloading?

I agree wth MJ. PD pump slidin vane is best for this applicaiton because first it has a good suction lift capability and second it has a very stable flow rate and NPSH. We use it all the time for fuel delivery.
