    Of course I can use Kaye+Laby or similar to give me the initial permeability then I just need the raleigh coefficients of things like steel and Iron. So my question now becomes where can I get good data for initial permeability and raleigh coefficients of materials?

    thanks all for you replies. I did not want to use a set of resistors for the voltage divider as I wantd a very stable voltage. Also I was trying to avoid using a voltage regulator for something cheaper. What sort of silicon diodes would I need to use for this application? Many thanks Andrew
