Thanks SceneryDriver,
Thats quite useful. The website is OK as well.
Hydromech,
I'll be using a gas bladder accumulator. I've just got 4 actuator to move, 3 linear (piston) and 1 rotary. I think the required oil is about 48L. The only pressures that I know are the ones I listed. I know the...
Hi all,
Could someone help me out with this. I'm trying to do a rough calculation of sizing a accumulator (whats the required volume), but I've not done this before and I'm completely stuck. I asked a work mate but he just stared blankly at me. I think I've got to apply boyles law, but I'm...
I've had a look but I can't seem to find how to do it, sorry. It seems just to output Newton meters, not milliNewton Meters.
Hopefully someone will help.
Hi Boottmills,
I think I'll ask for a transfer. I usually don't work in teams, I find that designing by committee slows the project down, and stifles creativity. My employer prefers people to have their own projects, so that they get the most out of each designer.
Hi Hanabie,
I'm not actually a new hire, It's just a new project. Graduated about 17 years ago. Unfortunately there is nothing to learn, that's one of the main issues. I am used to working on quite advanced engineering projects, mainly SC jobs, but this new one is truly dull.
Hi Mike,
I know...
Hi all,
Is there any easy way to tell your manager that you find the design project you are working on extremely mind numbingly boring and you want off the project asap.
I started a new project two weeks ago and the task I have been given has sucked most of my creativity out of me. All my...
Thanks Ted.
This is the equation I used in my calc's, but one of the stress engineers said it was Ft=T/PCD, and another said it was Ft=2T/r.

Hi all,
I'm having a bad day, my brain has stopped working. Please don't laugh at this question.
How do I calculate the Tangential Force on a spur gear that's attached to a motor shaft.
Here's the data.
Torque on motor shaft: 30Nm
Diameter of motor shaft: 10mm
Shaft RPM: 100
Spur Gear PCD...
Hi all,
I'm in the process of designing a underwater casing that will go to a depth of 40 meters. The casing a 280mm diameter cylinder and is in two parts joined by two 300mm flanged faces. The casing has to be watertight, so I'm fitting an o-ring between the flanges. The internal pressure of...
Hi all.
Not posted on here for a few months. I'm currently using Inventor 2012.
Is there anyway to easily model a rectangular light beam that's hitting a flat mirror and being reflected off? (the mirror is tilted at 45 degrees with respect lens of the torch)
The light beam that comes out of...
