I have a situation where I need to calculate the stress on a rod bolt. I have a 3/8-24 rod bolt which is torqued to achieve a bolt elongation of .006" as measured with a bolt stretch gauge. I have calculated the inertial load at the max rpm and I want to add that to the clamp load to get total...
Went to their online catalog to look up some needle bearings and it seems the entire section is missing. The online catalog is here:
http://timken.dirxion.com/WebProject.asp?CodeId=7.0.9.2#
It goes section A, B, D. Section C, which contained their needle bearings, is missing.
I have a Timken...
I used .5intake/rev because assuming it's a four stroke there is one intake event every two revolutions so intake/2rev or .5intake/rev. I see what you're doing though by calculating avg piston velocity and then using the ratio of bore to port csa. Is this the typical method to calculate port...
Not to hijack but I have a question about that port velocity calculator on speedtalk. I ran the numbers they input and got a much lower port velocity. Isn't it just s=Q/A? So:
Port Dia=1.500"
Bore=4.00
Stroke=3.500
Rpm=5000
Port csa is (1.500^2)*PI/4 =1.767 in^2
Cyl volume=...
I posted a picture of the catalog. It is the static load rating equation. The rod will only swing though an angle of 35 degrees so which equation should I be using to calculate bearing load capacity...
I am trying to design a full compliment needle bearing for the wrist pin of a prototype two stroke engine. I'm using Timken's catalog located at:
http://timken.dirxion.com/Main.asp
On page C326, Timken gives bearing load rating equations for dynamic and static applications. I have put together...
Most of the design work I do is nice, easy flat surfaces so I'm a little lost here. How would I design something like this? It's an intake port that I want to make parametric. It starts off as a parallelogram but I want it to end in a circle. I made a guide line and used the swept feature while...
Don't know what the best course of action would be here. I created a helix, then swept a rectangle along the guide using the "swept" feature to create the groove you see. I have an outer sleeve with a pin protruding and I want to make the guide tangent to the pin. I already have an "align"...
Does anybody know of any good websites to download models for free? I need a fuel injector and a turbocharger. I was hoping to find something and insert it directly into my model so I wouldn't have to model them myself. Thanks

If I remember correctly, some of the Chinese mini lathes use cut metric threads on their lead screws. It was strongly suggested to deburr it before running the lathe and then it supposedly lasts forever....or until something else breaks. Seems like an similar application to your but with...
When I run the solver, the dos window comes up then promptly closes. I opened the log file I found in the folder and the last few lines are:
