Heat treatment steel 4140 stress relief.

Thanks for you response. When I say "temperature ramp," I'm talking about the oven starting at a certain temperature, like 550 °C, and then staying at that temperature for two hours. But the process of reaching those temperatures will be with a heating ramp of, for example, 95 °C/hour. I'm not...

Heat treatment steel 4140 stress relief.

Thanks for you response. I get that to get to the stress relief temperature or for any heat treatment, you've got to set a heating ramp on the furnace. That way you can prevent sudden temperature changes and avoid damage to the part.

Heat treatment steel 4140 stress relief.

Thank you very much for your response. Sure, only the standard does not indicate a heating ramp. Could you help me where to start to choose a heating ramp? Regards

Heat treatment steel 4140 stress relief.

Hello, everyone. I will be performing stress relief heat treatment on 4140 steel specifically for a part as shown in the image with these measurements. My question is, what thickness is appropriate for heating, since the standard tells me that it should be at least 1 hour per inch? And...

Measurement of gamma prime in superalloys.

Thank you for your response No, the SEM used is old. We attempted to utilize ImageJ software, but the "Threshold" function failed to accurately combine black and white, rendering it ineffective. Could you please share any effective methods you have encountered in your professional experience...

Measurement of gamma prime in superalloys.

Greetings. Could any expert recommend a method for measuring the gamma prime fraction automatically or semi-automatically, thereby avoiding manual measurement? In my case, it is for a MarM247 superalloy blade. For example: Reference: Khodabakhshi, A., Mashreghi, A., Shajari, Y. et al...

Heat treatment of 17-4PH separately cast specimens

Hi. Thanks you every much for your response. I'm based in Mexico, and I would really appreciate it if you happen to know any reliable heat treatment providers here that you could recommend. I'm currently evaluating different options and your input would be very helpful. Thanks again for...

Heat treatment of 17-4PH separately cast specimens

Thank you for your comments. Attached is a screenshot of the heat treatments for 17-4PH cast. I need specimens in solution condition (because I require my castings in this condition for machining) and H925 condition to know how they respond to the ageing heat treatment. The thickness of my...

Heat treatment of 17-4PH separately cast specimens

Hi. The manufacturer told me that he has to heat treat the tensile and impact test specimens at a different load than the castings because the specimens have smaller dimensions and could be over-treated. However, heat treating the specimens at a different load costs $5700 (only 4 x 6.35 mm...

Heat treatment of 17-4PH separately cast specimens

Greetings. Thank you for your reply. I would like to express my concern regarding the necessity of verifying the mechanical properties of the casting. It is of the utmost importance that these tests be performed separately from the part. However, the test pieces are too small in relation to...

Heat treatment of 17-4PH separately cast specimens

Hi, I'm currently making a development about 17-4PH investment casting but I have some doubts about separately cast specimens for tensile and impact tests. Can I heat treated these specimens (diameter of 6.35 mm) in the same charge of pieces of castings? or do i need heat treated the...
