Hi p5t1,
Before answering your question, can you calrify the following :
1. What's the purpose of the generator ? Is it for emergency back up only ?
2. Are you allowed to parallel with the normal supply ?
But I think in all cases, the isolating transformer is not required. However...
Tuxedo,
Was the transformer OK with the old breaker ? (I mean right before changing to new breaker)... What I'm trying to get at is if the transformer didn't have any problems before, then there is a big chance that the problem is with the new breaker or it's protection settings. One more...
Tuxedo,
You are calling it transformer failure where actually it is breaker tripping. Could you tell us:
1) what protective devices are operating
2) Transformer type
3) Breaker specs
4) Why did you change to new breakers.
Are you able to energize the transformer after the failures ?
Depending...
Dafo74,
I worked in a power station where multi-step frequency relays were used for load shedding. Upon starting a new automation project (Network Control System) by Siemens, the alarms of these frequency relays were integrated with the system for information purpose. In addition to that a new...

In addition to the valuable replies above, I'd like to mention that one key issue here would be if there will be any future load on the 1200Ft far away side to utilize the available 144KW at the source. If this is the case, then It's recommended to step up and then step down the voltage...
Hi mpparent,
Did u mean the PDU was serviced last year ?
If so, maybe the tapping of the transformer was changed to give a higher secondary voltage. Or as gordonl suggests even small change in the load from last year causes such a slight change in the voltage (2.88 %).. Hope this helps. Best...
Hi,
I'm not sure 100%, but is it really the 3rd harmonic current we are dealing with here OR the normal return current from single phase loads. When paralleling generators, it is recommended that the neutral of only one of the parallelled generators be conneted to ground leaving the rest...
