I have to weld SA 592 Gr F material with SA 516 Gr 70 material. The joint requires PWHT.
PWHT Temp of SA 592 Gr F - 540 TO 595 Degree cel.
PWHT temp of SA 516 Gr 70 - minimum 595
Which temperature should we follow?
We can not have 595 exactly as the temperature shall always have tolerance ...
We are carrying out full penetration weld joints in one of our project. But the customer specification does not call for carrying out volumetric NDE (i.e. RT/UT) of weld joints. So we are not carrying out RT/UT of weld joints.
But QC engineer is asking if you are not carrying out volumetric NDE...
Dear Sir,
In 2015 edition of asme sec. viii div. 1, as per clause UW-11 a8 UT was permitted in lieu of RT under certain constraints.
But 2017 edition onwards, this clause has been removed.
can someone shed some light on the reason?
i have attached development of full sphere. u can made it for half sphere i.e. hemisphere.https://files.engineering.com/getfile.aspx?folder=61d8fcf0-90c2-4dcc-af0c-5b856665f5a6&file=spehere-dev.pdf
for carbon steel dished end having thickness 52 mm i have to decide post forming heat treatment.
code doesnot specify whether post forming heat treatment shall be normalizing or stress relieving.
our general practice is above 16 mm, we do normalizing.
The vessel after dished end welding will...
Sir,
reported ductility (percentage elongation) is meeting the requirements even yield is also meeting the requirements;
only UTS is higher by 25 mpa than the maximum limit specified by code.
i don't have option , what technical justification i should give to client so that it will get...
for SA 537 class 1 Material, what will be the impact if we get higher UTS than specified in asme sec II 1.?
Generally code indicates minimum UTS required but for SA 537 material, minimum & maximum range of UTS is specified.
Dear experts,
I beg your pardon for raising issue related to ASTM in this ASME Forum.
But this is the only forum i know, where i get swift & accurate guidelines.
ASME standards give the chemical & mechanical properties in the same standard. e.g. for SA 479 Gr 304 L,we will get chemical &...
On internet i find that lot of suppliers are offering SA 514 material. But i don't fins it in ASME SEC. IIA.
I find it only in ASTM & not in ASME.
Experts please shed light on this.
Many times i face a problem wherein there is a minor deviation in chemical content of a element for particular grade mentioned in ASME SEC IIA. But , the mechanical properties are met. Considering the functionality of the component we the manufacturer feel that the deviation should be acceptable...
ASME SEC IIA does not specify hardness value of SA 516.
Mill Test certificates indicates maximum permissible hardness value of SA 516.
From where the MILL get that value?
