    Abandonment of Piping

    I've worked at afew refineries that had abandoned in place pipe for over 3 decades in their pipeways, they never had a problem with it ...other then taking up space.

    I've got 40+ yr.s of piping design behind me and doing back to back weld neck flanges is usually indicates a poor design. I had to do this only once when we were hooking up a 600# system to a 900# and space was limited, and that was it.

    Do you show flanges on a plant P & ID?

    You need to remember WHEN a P&ID is generated, and for those that don't know it's at the beginning of the project(or suppose to be). Remember that a P&ID is a SCHMATIC and is NOT used to indicate real-world piping configurations. SO how would anybody generating a P&ID know where to put flanges...

    All the components of my North Arrow block are on layer "0", I've checked both the layer and view port for visibility and everything is "on" and "unfrozen", and I went into drawing order and tried to put up my north arrow on top ...to no avail.     My experience when your dealing with pipe fabrication your shooting for around 0.125" accuracy, and that's "tight"! You need to remember (or learn) that most pipe construction is done out in the field, not in some machine shop where you have the luxury of chasing everything to a the thousandths...
