Understanding Fan Static Pressure

What is Fan Static Pressure?

by  IanVG  Posted    (Edited  )
Fan Static Pressure is used by fan manufacturers to rate their fans. The equation for Fan Static Pressure (FSP) is:

FSP = SP_outlet - TP_inlet

Where:

SP_oulet = Static pressure at outlet of fan, as measured by a static pressure tube.

TP_inlet = Total pressure at inlet of fan, as measured by an impact pitot tube. Total pressure is static pressure plus velocity (dynamic) pressure.
