Roof Drainage
Roof Drainage
(OP)
Hi,
I was hoping someone could recommend a good economical way to pipe runoff from roof drain downspouts and tie to a storm drain system. Our particular project is a daycare with parking in front and a playground on the other 3 sides.
There are roughly 3 to 4 downspouts per side. How is this typically done? I have seen one product, ADS In-line Drain, which looks interesting. Anyone have any experience with this product? Or is there a better way? Any help would be appreciated - I have very little experience with commercial developments.
Thanks

Make sure you have at least 0.5% slope on the pipes, 2% is preferred. Your connection point to the existing storm may limit your slope. You might need a catch basin where you connect up to the existing storm drain line - check with your local agency.
Regarding the in-line drain, typically you don't need a catch basin at the end of the downspout, unless you expect lots of debris from the roof to enter the system. I would make sure, however, that if you need to clean the pipe, a 100-ft snake would reach all points in the system (so add a cleanout or catch basin if needed.)

G'luck!
