CMM calibration

(OP)
hi
we just purchased a used DEA manual cmm (1992) it is in excellant shape. when I set it up and tried to measure known dimensions it seems to read 0.001" out. I can't seem to find any reference in the manual to calibrate the machine or to compensate for this error. Does any know what to do.
Thanks.

RE: CMM calibration

Hello, I work for a metrology lab, and operate a B&S Global FX CMM with PC_Demis software. You must first have your reference sphere calibrated. This may be part of your problem. For instance,if your r-sphere is .74993 and the info in your software states it as .75000 Then this error must be corrected.Refer to your manuals on this matter. I suggest you have a technician come in and verify all axes of the machine and send your r-sphere to a cal-lab and have it verified. I hope this helps!

RE: CMM calibration

I second that motion.
