Glass etching, can anyone help

Glass etching, can anyone help

Glass etching, can anyone help

(OP)
...me figure out etching rates for 40% leaded glass being etched by 5%HF/2.5% HNO3 at room conditions?  And how would I calculate the change in amount of glass (thickness) is being etched off at varying Acid concentrations?  Safety wants to decrease HF %, but I fear we will not get sufficient etching then and need some numbers to back it up

Thanks!

RE: Glass etching, can anyone help

I would suggest: get a number of samples and weight them.
Using a few acid mixes and fixed time measure etch-rates,
Fit on the measured points a 2-dimensional surface.

This should give you some idea what direction to modify
the test.

When you are close to optimum, you can generate an equation.
