We are looking at using 6061 aluminum tubing as the heat exchanger for an anerobic manure digester. PH in the digester will range from 6 to 7.5. Do you anticipate any corosion problems in using this material. Thermal conductivity is good for a water/metal/manure (4% solids) interface.

I have used aluminum as a liner in my compost building (poultry manure composting) and have had some corrosion but much less than steel (compost building has been in use 10 years).  The corrosion is much worse where the compost is in contact with the aluminum (the steel in the building corrodes quickly just due to contact with the humid air in the building.)  The pH of the poultry compost is ~8.  There are many digesters in operation - have they mostly used stainless steel?
