Looking for Transmission/Drive train Book

Looking for Transmission/Drive train Book

Looking for Transmission/Drive train Book

(OP)
I was wondering if anyone out there knows of a good book on the subject of drive train/tramission powerer losses and calculations? Many thanks for your help
Sincerely;

RE: Looking for Transmission/Drive train Book

Lots of good information in;

On-Highway Trucks sub titled Power Trains and Suspension Systems by Robert N. Brady, published by Reston Publishing

Library of Congress Catologing in Publication Data

TL260.B7   629.2'4   81-15727
ISBN 0-8359-5232-4   AAACR2

Whatever all those numbers mean, and;

Motor Truck Engineering by James William Fitch, James W. Fitch, Publisher 99 South Van Ness Avenue, SF,CA 94301

The editions I have are a little dated by now, with respect to some of the hardware, but the basics are there, as well.

Hope you find them, and find what you need.

RE: Looking for Transmission/Drive train Book

A good straight forward algebra only design book:

"Mechanical Power Transmission" by William J. Patton
TJ 1045.P34     621.8
ISBN 0-13-569905-3
~ $30.00 at Amazon.com

RE: Looking for Transmission/Drive train Book

If the source starts chattering about gear/chain efficiencies of 9X% and fails to mention the churning losses of gears in an oil bath being HIGHLY dependent on rpm and those parasitic losses being the PREDOMINANT factor at higher rpm I would limit all my bets to items from the dollar menu.
