IBC Seismic Design - Components

IBC Seismic Design - Components

(OP)
I am designingthe connections for mechanical components inside of a building that is classified as a Seismic Design Category C and Seismic Deisgn Use group III.

The components were are designing are not required for the continued use of the building and it doesn't meet any of the other items that would require a 1.5 Ip Factor, therefore, based on 1621.1.6, I am using a Component Importance Factor of 1.00.  Based on my understanding of the IBC section 1621.1.1, I am not required to meet requirements in the entire Section 1621.  Am I reading this correctly?

My connections will probably end up resisting any seismic loads anyway, but I was curious if I was reading this section correctly.  We do very little component seismic design in my area since we normally are in Seismic Design Category B, and I rarely get into Seismic Design Category C.

Thanks in advance.
