AutoCAD 2004:Plotting with Calcomp Techjet 720

Am having problem with drivers (?) in plotting in 2004.  Had similar problem in 2002.  Calcomp no longer around, and "hit-or-miss" approach to setting up a compatible driver isn't getting me anywhere fast.  Anyone know of way to configure this plotter to work in 2004 (or 2000?)

Just add a plotter through Plotter Manager, try using Network Plotter Server and then try some different plotter drivers till one works.

I am ecstatic!  For eight months I postponed installing 2004, due to the plotter problems I had updating to 2000.  I finally decided to install 2004, then buy a new plotter.  When I opened the Plotter Manager om 2004, I find that 2004 has included Cal-Comp plotters in the driver/setup list--2000 did not. They even include soe pen plotters! I installed the 5436 TechJet 720.pc3 plotter, and it works like a charm.  Does anyone know why AutoDesk did this (reach back 8-10 years for hardware inclusinos, having skipped them at at least one intermediate upgrade?)  Too many like me out here with archaic equipment?  Anyway--if anyone else is having problems with older plotters and 2000, 2004 is an answer.  Don't know about 2005.
