Dimensioning part level sketch in assembly level drawing

Dimensioning part level sketch in assembly level drawing

Dimensioning part level sketch in assembly level drawing

(OP)
Wondering if anyone might have run in to this problem in SWX 2004, sp4.0:

-create a 3D sketch in a part
-insert that part in to an assembly
-create a drawing of that assembly

If you're like me, you'll be unable to select that 3D sketch for dimensioning, even though it is displayed on the drawing.

The workaround is to create another 3D sketch at the assembly level in-context of the part level sketch, but then there's another feature to maintain.

Any insight is much appreciated!

RE: Dimensioning part level sketch in assembly level drawing

I just did what you said and I could dimension to the lines. Check this out. In Tools, System Options, Drawings, see if “Select hidden entities” has a check mark. I unchecked it and still could dimension to the lines. I was just guessing.

Thanks for the suggestion, but still no go.  Were you able to select the 3D sketch in a view of the assembly, with the part-level 3D sketch turned on?

No problem here...unless, are you inserting vert or horiz lines on the dwg then trying to dimension? Just curious.
