shell aspect ratio warning

shell aspect ratio warning

shell aspect ratio warning

(OP)
Hi guys
I was trying to perform stress analysis on a shell 93 element but when i was trying to mesh the model it is giving me the warning message thicknees/radius is .. and also thickness to density is.. is this the problem with aspect ratio or can any one suggest me how to overcome this?

RE: shell aspect ratio warning

Check in the help for errors on aspect ratios - the above are not relevant to this. Aspect ratios concern the length:width ratio of the element - usually if this is greater than 1:3 a warning can be set to appear, but in theory aspect ratios shouldn't affect the solution (see ANSYS help for reasoning on this). What is the full error message?

RE: shell aspect ratio warning

Drej, I think that bhava9 has a warning message that related to Maximum Thickness /Minimun Radius of Curvature of the shell element and not to Lenght/ width.
If the relation Max Thk / Min Rad is big, you can loose the lineality of the stresses trough thickness. (It´s like a beam with an initial important curvature, where the stresses are not linear).
Once, someone told me that a reasonable limit is 1:8.
Good Luck!

Thanks every one for the reply
The error was max thick/min radius some times and also length /width sometimes.i was trying to run the model even if it is giving the error but after the solution is done when i was trying to see the stress in it it is not showing any thing except the entire model in red color and it not even giving the max,min stress, displacement any thing.I tried changing the load conditions and if i do it it is giving the error the value at node has excedded the current max value of 100000 this is because of an improper constrained model.
