Hi guys - wonder if you can carify something for me??
The MOM decribes a pressure vessel as:
"A pressure vessel is a container or a vessel which contains any substance above atmospheric pressure."
Are there any limits on vessel size / pressure where the MOM is not required. We make Pressure Vessels from ST. STL. for filtration purposes (gases & liquids) ranging from 2.5" Dia to anything upto 24" and sometimes above. Are even the small vessels covered by the MOM factories act??
Our sales contact in Singapore is telling us not, but we the design office think they are.....
Thanks in advance,
Lee

Try
http://www.mom.gov.sg/mom/cda/0,1858,2024----3923----1,00.html
Or google their site and look under FAQ-pressure vessels.
RE: Singapore Ministry of Manpower
I have read the FAQ previously and have checked with Lloyds our AIA and they have said the same as you - a design review is required. We keep telling the guys out in Singapore that this is required, but this was their response:
"I have check with MOM, filter vessels are not inclusive in the inspection lists. Only the compressor and the air-tank are consider as pressure vessel, and they are require to be inspected by certified inspector."
Things like this are clouding our judgement!!
Thanks,
Lee

In this case I would practice CYA. If sales says no design review is required they should provide you a document or email for the same.
